On June 2nd, 2005 my dear mother finally realized the splendor of Heaven. The legacy she left, for those whom she loved, is more than the wealth of nations.  She has found a place called "There" and now rejoices with a multitude which cannot be numbered or silenced.

This poem was initially inspired by a dear friend and I have attempted to portray that which I have come to know.  It is my hope that it will bring comfort to those who have experienced loss and also provide a way to say "I Love You" or "I Care" in a special way.

Kindred Spirits

A  few years back my wife and I lost a friend to cancer.  He was a father, husband, decorated Gulf War Veteran, and a dear friend. When he laughed, the room would light up.  When he rejoiced you knew it was genuine, because he truly appreciated life.

Throughout that time we were supportive through prayer, encouragement, and much laughter. We fully expected a miracle, but the chemotherapy itself caused what is called cardiomyopathy. In effect,  the chemotherapy simply weakened his heart to the point that it stopped.   Nonetheless,  we still very much believe in miracles and the joy of friendship.

There are times in life when we befriend others who become, what I call, Kindred Spirits. These are the same people who can finish a sentence that we start. They are the ones who laugh in unison with us, and bond with us without much effort.  Jeff’s personality was contagious and his joy and laughter melodious.

When Jeff died we felt such a loss.  I was not at the hospital when he passed, but God let me know within my spirit when it happened.  At the very moment he passed away I felt a release. I knew it was God's way of letting me know everything was alright.  It was then that I decided to write a letter, an act of expression that proved therapeutic.  What happened next  was one of the sweetest moments I have ever known.  I desired to see what he was seeing, and God granted that and much more.

This depiction is one of extraordinary beauty and peace as he approached the throne of God.  He could see all creation praising God.  Butterflies actually do bow to kiss the flowers unceasingly, and time truely has no measure.  The colors are so intense and unique that you desire to name them yourself.  The flowers sway in delight at the voice of God, and the trees lift their branches in high praise. Even the wind dances and playfully whispers secrets that the angels long to hear.

I n the distance there is a noise that sounds like roaring thunder.  As he draws closer,
the sound becomes clearer and the light more intense. It is the image of him walking up a hill and ahead of him the words can be heard. “Salvation belongs to our God … who sits on the throne and unto the Lamb, praise and glory, wisdom and thanks, honor and power and strength be to our God.” This event was so beautiful there was no way to describe it.  I only knew that what he was seeing far surpassed any pain we felt.

I  wept,  and continue to do so,  because of what was revealed that very day. I could know of no greater solace than a visual postcard of a dear friend,  who was experiencing the Love of God in a tangible way. He was home and I had gotten a glimpse of Heaven.

This special multimedia presentation serenades the senses with "Amazing Grace"  as background music. This is not a sad story, but one that says "If you could see me now, ... you would rejoice with me !"  So encourage someone today with this unique and inspirational video.... pass it on.

Thanks,

1 Corinthians 2:9

But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God
has prepared for them that love Him."
